Hi everyone!
SALs (Stitch-A-Longs) were not something that I would do years ago. This was mainly because of lack of information. I didn’t know what a SAL was. I thought that it was something where you would mail the project to someone else so they can continue stitching; this is actually a round robin. My ignorance about this didn’t let me experience how fun SALs are!
In Facebook, I found lots of SALs but there was one in particular that I thought it was more laid back and more flexible. So, I joined Stitch Maynia. No, I didn’t misspelled that. Maynia as in May which is when the group started with 15 new starts in that month.
There are all sorts of SALs throughout the year and I’m in almost all of them. The one for March is titled: “It’s not easy being green”. Therefore, my project for this SAL is St. Patrick’s Shamrock by Brooke’s Books. Can’t show the finished project because is a digital pattern but below you’ll see my progress:
St. Patrick’s Shamrock by Brooke’s Books (on 14ct. gold Aida and DMC cotton floss)
There is also another SAL which is called “Year of Starts”. We have the option of doing 366 (daily), 52 (weekly), 12 (monthly). I chose to do 52 starts and, so far, I am up to date. I have 9 out of 52 already done. These are the ones:
Do not interrupt me by Virginia Knutson (on 14ct. off white Aida and DMC cotton floss)
Fergie and Fergus by Kincavel Krosses (on 14ct. off white Aida and DMC cotton floss)
Nativity by MCG Textiles (on 18ct. white Aida and cotton floss)
Stitching Days by Glory Bee (on 14ct. off white Aida, DMC cotton floss, and Loops and Threads variegated floss)
Twighlight Angel by Dimensions Gold Petittes (on 16ct. grey Aida, cotton floss, metallic threads, charms, sequins, and beads)
Wedding Collage by Janlynn (on 14ct. white Aida and DMC cotton floss)
Fabulous by Cross Stitch Guild
Count your Blessings by Lizzie Kate (on 14ct. oatmeal Aida and DMC cotton floss)
I’ve decided to take the Wedding Collage out of my rotation because I’m planning to do this project for the November SAL in Stitch Maynia. So you’ll see it being worked on then. In the meantime, I will not touch it until November.
I also decided to make my rotation more organized. Therefore, I will be working with 7 projects during the week in alphabetical order. I will start doing this tomorrow.
And those are my SALs and my rotation. I will come back next Sunday with an update on these.
Thanks for reading and happy stitching!
