New Stash

I just got new stash for the big event next month. Stitch Maynia will start May 1st and I’m ready to do 15 starts during this month; one per day for the first 15 days. The rest of the month I will be working on my WIPs. One per day; and, so far, I have 16 WIPs (without counting the new 15 starts). Anyway, I will be writing about it in a different post.

For now, this is my new stash to kit up 15 charts:

I just got fabric and DMC threads. Now I’m all ready.
I also got my very first needle minders. This is the first time I get to work with them. So I got three gorgeous minders from Gina’s Unique Boutique. Gina has a Facebook group and an Etsy store
I also got 4 old magazine from a friend who didn’t want them. She also gave me a crochet magazine; I don’t know what I’ll do with them but I’m kinda curious to learn how to.
Anyway, that’s all the haul I got. I’ll come back tomorrow with more posts.
Gracias!

Pink and Blue Flower SAL

Hola again stitchers!

This is my update for my April Showers Bring May Flowers SAL. I had a little bit of an issue with the fabric for Pink Flower: I cut it too short! It was my mistake mainly because I didn’t think of the border. Sometimes my mind takes a vacation and only leaves the excitement I’m feeling at the moment.

So, I will only have one little square left over which is obviously not good! Therefore, I will have to change that border. Don’t know what I will do but I’ll figure it out. I still feel a little bummed though. Anyway, this is how they look like as of today. I got these patterns free when I bought the new DMC colors. I decided to stitch them as part of the April SAL at Stitch Maynia. Pink Flowes is stitched on 14ct ivory aida and started on 3/13/16 and Purple Flower is stitched on 14ct oatmeal aida and started on 4/1/16. I’m almost done with both vases. My next step will be figure out how I’m gonna do the borders.

New Facebook Page!

I just wanted to let you know that I have a new Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/latinstitcher/. Please help me out and like my page. Comment on here and let me know which one is your page/instagram/twitter/blog and I’ll go like/subscribe.

Muchas gracias!

Advent Animal SAL

Hola stitchers!

So last week I mentioned that I did not like the way Katie Kitty from the Advent Animal SAL came out. This was mainly because of my poor choice of fabric which was white aida. Yesterday I spent almost the whole day trying to decide. I had a blue aida that I chose for another project. So, I swiched fabrics. Now, this SAL will be done in 14ct blue aida (as opposed to 16ct white).

In addition, I changed the border and chose to do a border that a fellow stitcher in the SAL Facebook group designed. It is of a cute little christmas stocking:

This will be the new home for Peter Polar Bear

My intention, once I finish the whole series, will be to make it as a pocket ornament. I will be starting Peter tomorrow.

Gracias for reading! Happy stitching!

Fergie and Fergus

This piece is very special for me because I’m stitching this for my daughter who loves foxes. As a matter of fact, she is known as “foxlover” in her pc games community. This project was a freebie from Kinkavel Krosses. When I saw it I immediately thought “I’ve got to stitch this”. I still don’t know whether to turn it into a small pillow or frame it. Either way this cutie of a project is stitching up quickly.

The only thing I’ve got to say is that it has A LOT of pinks and blue! OMG! Lastly, I changed the blue for purple. My daughter loves pinks and purples. Therefore, I’m turning it into mother and daughter foxes 🙂

This is what it looks like today.
I have to admit that I got a little bit of a problem with the lining up of the outline of the foxes; they were always off by one or two stitches. But now that all is set now is all free sail. All I have to do is fill up the foxes with their respective colors and think about whether I want to add a border or not. The fox is entirely filled up with either pink or purple with the exception of the tip of the tail, center of the ear, eyebrows, and the little center of the eye which are all in white.

Katie Kitty – Advent Animals Calendar

Ok, I’ve gotta be honest about this. I didn’t like how it turned out and I know that mostly it was because of the poor choice of the fabric. Then, the french knot on the fish’s eye didn’t turn out good. Lastly, the border was sooooo lose for some reason.

Anyway, you should know this one. This is the first pattern in the Advent Animals Calendar by Brooke’s Books. I pick to stitch this year SAL because those animals are so cute! But, I’m making it my mission and I will finish it. I just need to regroup and buy a new fabric for it. Definitely a different color so the light colors can be appreciated more. I’ll tell you what I won’t do: frog this. No way, no how! I’ll just continue the series and then I’ll stitch this one after I’m done with the rest of the animals.

St Patrick’s Shamrock

This piece was part of the March SAL at Stitch Maynia called “It’s not easy being green”. This SAL was about stitching something with green in it. This SAL ran for the whole month of March which was perfect; I finished it on time. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t want to just stitch something with green in it. I wanted something to celebrate St Patrick which is a holiday this month. So I found this freebie in Brooke’s Books website. You can find it here

The pattern was very simple and easy to follow. Only one color which was the 910 from DMC and stitched on gold aida. Now, there is a story behind this gold aida which is a little long to tell. But I’m just going to write that I ran out of fabric (I know, shocker!) and the only one left that was big enough was this gold aida. I thought that it was going to work against the green color floss.
