Playing Catch Up

I know, I’ve been behind with updating my blog but I promise you I’ve been stitching. Although, I’m a little behind with temperature butterflies. This is my progress on it:

I finished May and I’m working my way in June. I’ll try to finish it by tomorrow.
I also did a thing and I’ll explain in a separate post. Happy stitching!

February Update

Well, I’m here to say that I failed miserably at all the plans I had last December and that I shared here. On December 28th I got so sick I couldn’t even get up from my bed. I had two projects I was planning to finish by the end of December and I couldn’t finish them. When January came I was still sick. I must’ve been sick for like a month…. And yes, it was Covid. I felt better in the middle of January and didn’t have the strength to catch up. But, I still stitched. I was able to finish the two projects:

Cozy Cafe by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery
Stitched on 16ct Aida in Opal from PTP

Maple Lane by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery
Stitched on 28ct Cashel Linen in Vellum from PTP

So, having that said, the month of February was very busy. I’m not going to go into a lot of details but I will leave here the projects that I worked on this past month:

Snowman and Friends by Dimensions

Stargazer by Mirabilia; I’m doing a pink conversion
Humans After All by Cloudsfactory

Winged Monarch by Mill Hill
Four Seasons by HAED

Air Goddess by Joan Elliott

12 Days of Christmas by Joan Elliott

Temperature Butterflies by Stitchin’ Mommy

World of Warcraft/Horde Banner by Makaronka Stitch on Etsy

Winter Season by Imaginating

Monthly Marker and Plans

Time for some planning! I’m excited about the new year and the plans I have. Of course, they are subject to be changed but, for now, I’m looking forward to starting my new rotation and finishing some old projects and move on to the next.

So, for starters, the SALs I’m planning to join are:

1. WIPGO

2. IHSW

3. TUSAL

4. No New Start

5. Daily 30

6. Mill Hill Monday

7. WIPocalypse

With the added:

8. Temperature Stitching

9. Seasonal Stitching

10. Sunday Stitching

11. Full Coverage Weekend

12. Mystery SALs

13. Stitch from Stash (maybe?)

So, as I see, my rotation will be as follows:

  • Mondays: Wipgo, Mill Hill Monday, Daily 30, Seasonal, and mystery SAL (5 projects)
  • Tuesdays: Wipgo, Daily 30, Seasonal, and mystery SAL (4 projects)
  • Wednesdays: Wipgo, Daily 30, Seasonal, and mystery SAL (4 projects)
  • Thursdays: Wipgo, Daily 30, Seasonal, and mystery SAL (4 projects)
  • Friday: Wipgo, Daily 30, Seasonal, Full coverage and mystery SAL (5 projects)
  • Saturdays: Wipgo, Daily 30, Seasonal, Full coverage and mystery SAL (5 projects)
  • Sundays: Wipgo, Daily 30, Seasonal, Sunday Stitching, Full coverage and mystery SAL (5 projects)

I added Mystery SALs because I am still working on one from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery which ends in March 2022 (I think). Once this is finished then I will not have any other and will be able to have more time for the rest of the projects.

I added the Sunday Stitching because I want to make some needed progress on Footprints by Bucilla. I want to be able to hang this on my wall already!

I added Full Coverage because it is tradition for me to work on Full Coverage pieces on the weekends as well as seasonal stitching during spring, summer, fall and winter.

Temperature Stitching, there is a beautiful piece by Stitchin’ Mommy which is tracking the temperature of where you live using butterflies patterns. I love butterflies! AND I will be able to track the temperature at my new place.

So, here are the projects that made it to the cut and that I matched to each SAL:

1. For WIPGO this is how my card looks like:

2. For IHSW, I will be stitching on the projects closest to a finish.
3. For TUSAL, well… this is not really a project SAL but more like a “show me your ORTs” SAL
4. No New Start, this is self explanatory. I will not start a new project through out the whole year.
5. Daily 30 project will be Snowman & Friends by Dimensions(which is also part of WIPGO):

6. For Mill Hill Monday, I have Winged Monarch:

7. For WIPocalypse, so far, I have: Coffee Break by Soda Stitch, Air Goddess by Joan Elliott, PHD by Stitchrovia, Needleworker by Little House Needleworks, Home of a Needleworker by Little House Needleworks Too, and Cross Stitch Nation by Heartstring Samplery (all of which are part of WIPGO as well):

8. Temperature Stitching, Temperature Butterflies by Stitching Mommy:
9. Seasonal Stitching, Spring Season by Sandra Cozzolino, Hello Summer by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery, Autumn Band Sampler by Tiny Modernist, and Winter Season by Sandra Cozzolino:

10. Sunday Stitching: Footprints by Bucilla
11. Full Coverage Weekend –
January, February and March: La Niguenta by HAED
April, May and June: Paradise Nature by Thomas Kinkade
July, August and September: The Gamer by Gecko Rouge
October, November and December: Four Seasons by HAED

12. Mystery SAL: Maple Lane by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery

Maple Lane is supposed to be finished early 2022 so my list will start to get shorten quickly. Again, this is not set in stone so I may or may not make changes.
Another activity I wanted to join is Stitch from Stash. But, I like the version from Stitcher Mel. I will read more about her rules so that I can write about it and how I will be going about it.
You may be asking yourself what these activities/SALs are. I will be back with an explanation of each one of them and links to where you can find the aforementioned projects.

My New Stitching View

My new stitching views are much more peaceful and enjoyable! So far, I’m loving my new place in central Florida! I still don’t have a lot of Stitchy time. I’m still waiting for all of my stuff to be delivered and then I’ll get it organized. But I can sit down at the end of the day and put a stitch or two on my Maple Lane by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery SAL.

I’m also doing my plans for next year. I’m thinking of a “no new start” in 2022, WIPocalypse, and WIPGO. I currently have about 40 WIPs at the moment so I’m planning to get this list down as much as possible. Maybe by half. I’ll be more than happy if I can get it down to 12.

I’ll be sharing my plans later. For now, I’ll keep enjoying the fabulous weather here and completing clue 2 of Maple Lane.

End of the Month Update and July’s Plan

June was a good month. In summary, I had 3 finishes:

June Sampler of the Month

Picnic Ants Coasters

A Year of Celebrations – July
But then, I started “Hello Summer” by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. However, it’s a small project so it should be a finish soon. I also joined the Mill Hill Monday wagon and started Winged Monarch on the 7th. I have no hurry in finishing this one so every Monday I will put in a few stitches on it.
JULY’S PLANS
I couldn’t make up my mind about doing Joan Elliott July or Jolly July. So I’m doing both. The good thing is that I only have 2 Joan Elliott’s projects: Air Goddess and 12 Days of Christmas. I will put in a good hour on both of them. The not so good thing is that I have A LOT of new starts this month because I want to do a Christmas ornament from 2013 to 2020. So I chosen the designs out of the Just Cross Stitch magazine Christmas ornaments edition. I already had one finished for the year 2014 so I’ll just need to do the rest. I have a good reason for this but I’ll explain later. So, these are my new starts this month:
Ornaments:
Other new starts:
  • Stargazer by Mirabilia
  • Year of Celebrations – August
  • Snowman and Friends by Dimensions
  • Kringles by Little House Needleworks
  • Christmas Tree by Mirabilia

So, yes… A lot going on in July. But, I’m okay with it. I will be having some finishes as well. First, I’m planning to finish every ornament I start in July plus the Year of Celebration – August. I will be stitching each piece for 4 days. If I have a new start, I will do about 100 stitches and and stich for about 1 hour on Air Goddess. Then focus on the ornaments.

May Wrap up, StitchMaynia 2021 and June Plans

Stitch Maynia:

I went crazy this month. All for Stichmaynia: a group that will close its doors today. I participated on Stitchmaynia in 2016 with 15 new starts (from the 1st to the 15th). After this year, I didn’t participate because I was busy with other things and followed a strict rotation. I am grateful to this group because I learned so much about things I didn’t know about in cross stitch. I think it was fair for me to participate on its last month. However, I did it from the 15th to the 31st instead and only started 5 during those weekend days. So, this month, I started:

  1. 05/16/2021 Needleworker by Little House Needleworks
  2. 05/22/2021 Sky Blue Street by Soda Stitch
  3. 05/23/2021 Home of a Needleworker Too! by Little House Needleworks
  4. 05/30/2021 The Time for Myself by Soda Stitch
  5. 05/31/2021 99 by Ink Circles

These are all projects that I’ve always wanted to start for a long time. Now I can say that they are part of my WIPs. As it stands, my list has grown to be 28 and have already plans to make it up to 32.

May Wrap up:

I have mentioned that I was planning on doing no new starts in 2022. Therefore, I’m starting almost all of my favorite projects that are kitted up. Some of these will probably be finished this year as I still have some goals to finish some old WIPs.

I also had a finish which was a start on Stitchmaynia 2016:

  • Pumpkin Passport by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery
  • Fabric: 28 count Jobelan in Caribbean Blue by Fabrics by Stephanie
  • All DMC threads (as called for) except the lettering which I used DMC color variations 4240

I originally had used Irish Linen fabric by DMC but hated it. So I restarted it on 01/04/2020 and just finished it today.

June Plans:

June will be a busy month for me stitch wise. I will be participating on the Cross Stitch Camp in Facebook. This is a virtual camp where we are given a challenge monthly. These challenges have the objectives of doing new things, starting new things and finish them in a month. This camp is a summer camp which will run from June to August. I thought it was interesting and loved the idea. I will be starting the June Sampler of the Month which I made a post about it.
In addition to this, I went back to my previous rotation. Changing rotation every so often is my way of keeping my stitching bug busy and not give it the opportunity to even think about leaving. So, I will be stitching on 9 projects through out the month. My focus piece to finish out of my old WIPs is Picnic Ants Coaster by Sharon Pope which I started on 06/10/2017. I will be stitching on this piece (and finish it) for 6 days. Along with this, I will have the June Sampler of the month as another project to finish in June. The other pieces are:
